WARRENVILLE, S.C. - Mr. Wayne Spires, 76, husband of fifty-three years to the late Mrs. Ann Marie Fields Spires, entered into rest on Monday, November 14, 2016. Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, he was a son of the late Willie Judson and Laura Kate Shaw Spires. Following his graduating LBC High School in 1957, he honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from Augusta Newsprint after over twenty years of service as a Maintenance Mechanic. Mr. Spires was a proud lifetime member of the NRA, was a member of the Savannah River Rifle and Pistol Club and enjoyed photography, shooting, camping, hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife and parents, family members include his children, Mark Spires, Graniteville, SC and his companion, Karen Lusby-Leffel, Aiken, SC and Cindy Franklin and her husband, Tony E., Warrenville, SC; brother, John B. Spires and his wife, Mary, Gloverville, SC and granddaughters, Kristin Spires Gover and her husband, Skyler and Courtney Spires. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, November 15th, 2016, from 5 until 7 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at 2 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home &Cremation Service. Interment will follow in Langley Cemetery, Langley, SC. If you should desire to do so, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
