Retired Georgia Dept. of Transportation WARRENTON, Ga. - Mr. Wilbur Carlton Johnson, age 82, beloved husband of 58 years to Mrs. Marjorie Hart Johnson of N. Whitehead Street died Tuesday November 17, 2015 at University Hospital - Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Johnson United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Richards officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in the Johnson Cemetery. Mr. Johnson will lie in state one hour prior to funeral services at the church. Mr. Johnson a native and lifelong resident of Warren County, GA was the son of the late G.B. and Erma Hill Johnson. He retired after 34 years of service with the Georgia Department of Transportation as an Area Engineer. A graduate of the Warren County High School class of 1951, Mr. Johnson was a member of the Glascock County Farm Bureau, Member for sixty years and Past Master of Franklin Masonic Lodge # 11, and was a former member of the Board of Trustees at Briarwood Academy. Mr. Johnson was an active member of the Johnson United Methodist Church. In addition, Mr. Wilbur will be remembered for his love of Briarwood Football. Additional survivors include his three sons, Timothy C, Johnson, Townsend, GA, Thomas R. (Kathy) Johnson, Bastonville, GA, and Tony H. (Marla) Johnson, Sandersville, GA, six grandchildren, Andrew (Katy), Maria Celeste, Reed, Taylor, Tyler, and Logan. One brother, W. Larry Johnson and a sister in law, Ponda T. Johnson both of Warrenton, GA. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a brother, David T. Johnson. Pallbearers will be Eston Usry, Terry Johnson, Shawn Johnson, Scott Johnson, Dan Grube, Donald Kitchens, Randy Johnson, and Joe Shurley. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Franklin Masonic # 11. If so desired, Memorials may be made to the Johnson United Methodist Church, C/O Tommy Johnson 7731 Bastonville Road Warrenton, GA 30828.
