NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Funeral Services for Mr. William H. "Bill" Sofge, 88, who went to be with the Lord August 24, 2015, will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from First Presbyterian Church of Augusta. The Rev'd Dr. George Robertson and Rev. John Barrett officiating. Interment will be in Westover Memorial Park prior to the service. Mr. Sofge was a native of Jacksonville, Florida, having made North Augusta his home for the Past 55 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Augusta and the Trinity Bible Class and served as an Elder in Presbyterian Church U.S. Mr. Sofge was a US Army Air Force Veteran of WWII and a graduate of the University of Florida in Civil Engineering. He was a Registered Professional Engineer in FL, GA and SC and retired as the Director of Engineering at Castleberry Food Company. Mr. Sofge was a former project manager at Zimmerman, Evans & Leopold Consulting Engineers and was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and the American Institute of Plant Engineers where he served as CSRA Chapter president. Mr. Sofge served as president of the YMCA Board of Directors, vice chairman of the Aiken County Board of Education and a member of the Aiken County Air & Water Pollution Control Commission. He was an avid Florida Gator Fan. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Doris McLeod Sofge; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Renee Sofge, Marietta, GA and Glenn and Betty Sofge, Kennesaw, GA; three brothers, Ben Sofge, Callahan, FL, Roger Sofge, McDonough, GA and Charles Sofge, Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren, Jameson (Danielle) Sofge, Richard Sofge, Meagan (Jeff), Chambers, Daniel Sofge and Lauren (Phillip) Pilie; three great-grandchildren, Camilla Chambers, Parker Fox Pilie and Addilei Chambers. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Trinity Bible Class.
