AUGUSTA, Ga. - World War II veteran, mail sorter, Redcap porter, and car inspector .Mr. William (Bill) Howard Washington boarded his last train to Zion on Saturday, December 5, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Beulah Grove Baptist Church, 1434 Poplar Street, GA, with the Reverend Doctor Sam Davis, officiating, and Reverend Moses D. Anderson, pastor of Historic First Ebenezer Baptist Church, Hephzibah, GA, Eulogist . Burial will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens, 3666 Deans Bridge Road, Hephzibah, GA. He is survived by his wife, Mary Baker Washington and daughter, Wanda Lee Washington; brothers, Charlie (Pasty) Burton and Norman (Josephine) Burton; sister, Elizabeth (Elliott) Griffin; and an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and adopted children. Visitation will be today (Thursday) from 2 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the start of service.
