APPLING, Ga. - William A. "Billy" Whitaker, 71, husband of 47 years to Shirley H. Whitaker, entered into rest on Friday, November 18, 2016, at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center, Augusta, Ga. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at 1:00 PM in the Bellevue Memorial Gardens Chapel. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Mr. Billy was born in Appling, Georgia to the late James "Alf" and Annie Whitaker. He was a retired electrician with the Electrical Local Union IBEW 1579. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Shirley H. Whitaker; one son, Aaron Whitaker; one daughter, Tina W. Laidig; one brother, Pete Whitaker; four sisters, Joyce Ross, Mary Reeves (Charles), Florence McGlamery, and Margie Linnenkohl (Ludwig); grandsons, Zane Laidig and Noah Laidig. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Whitaker. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the , 2607 Commons Blvd., Augusta, GA 30909.
