AUGUSTA, Ga. - Ret. SSG Willie A. Barnes, Jr., husband of the late Daisy M. Smith Barnes of Wallace Street, entered into rest Tuesday, February 5, 2013. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 11, 2013 at 12 Noon at Gethsemane Baptist Church with Pastor Roy A. Gray and Rev. Ronald Strong officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Garden. He was a native of Tarboro, NC; retired from U. S. Army after 20 years and served in the Vietnam and Korean Wars. Survivors are his daughters, Danita (Russell) Bearden, Alexandria, VA, Annette (Elliott) Utley, Phoenix, AZ, Priscilla Hunter, Atlanta, GA, Yvonne Cummings, Bridgett McMath, Tina Williams, Erica L. Smith, all of Augusta; sons, Dennis Barnes, Tarboro, NC, Willie (Yvonne) Barnes, III, New Kent, VA, Wesley Barnes, Raleigh, NC, Johnny Cummings, Atlanta, GA, Patrick (Karen) Hudson, Sr., James Henry, Augusta, GA, Carl Watts, Boston, MA and Gerald Watts, Augusta; 29 grandchildren, great grandchildren; sister, Cozetta (Roy) Gray, Sr., Tarboro, NC; aunt, Missouri Robinson, Washington, DC; sister-in-law, Mary A. Marshall, Atlanta, GA; brother-in-law, Charles (Lois) Sapp, Columbus, GA; step-father, James Chance, Tarboro, NC; devoted friend, Reba Watts; a host of stepbrothers and stepsisters; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
