AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Yvonne Leverett took flight to glory Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at University Hospital. She served as a committed elementary teacher for the Richmond County Board of Education for over 30 years. Mrs. Leverett retired from Jamestown Elementary in 2005. She was a devoted member of Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served as an usher. Yvonne was extremely family oriented. She loved being in the presence of family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Leverett was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Helen Lawerence and Charlie Mae Jasper. This courageous and phenomenal woman leaves to cherish fond memories these pilgrims who will miss her vivacious spirit. These include a loving and caring daughter, Carmen Brown; one son, Maurice Leverett; a caring adopted daughter, Clara (Carl) Jones; a special loving niece, Tonya Anderson; one devoted sister, Lilly Bell (Herman) Butler, Brooklyn, NY; one concerned brother, Dea. Vernon (Charity) Johnson; one forthcoming son-in-law, Bobby "Tim" Battle; 3 helpful grandchildren, Tywain Brown, Tyneequa Brown and Shacoya Jones; 3 adopted grandchildren, Erica Brooks, Atlanta, GA; Jarod Bowers and Kyelle Covarrubias; 1 loving great-nephew, Jerrell Anderson; 1 devoted great-niece, Janelle Jasper; compassionate father of the children, Rev. Dr. Robert F. Leverett; supportive cousins, Linda, Brenda, Georgene, Barbara, Janice, Bertha and Juliette; a special family friend, Kiki Tucker; several godchildren to include Rodriquez, Ron, Reggie, Ricky, and Tiffany; also a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Leverett's Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2005, at 3:00pm at the Good Samaritan Baptist Church, where Rev. Christopher Culbreth I is Pastor. Visitation will be held at Good Samaritan Church this evening at 5:30pm to 7:00pm. The body will lie in state at the church from 2:00pm until the hour of the service.
