WRENS, Ga. - Susie Mae Moates Benson Ganus, 89, loving wife of the late Marion F. Benson and the late Roy E. Ganus, entered into rest Saturday morning, June 9, 2012 at her residence. Interment will follow graveside services held at Ways Baptist Church Cemetery on Monday morning, June 11, 2012 at 11:00AM with Rev. Gary Jones officiating. Susie was one of five children born to the late Eva Pearl Thigpen Moates and the late Joseph Edison Moates. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Gibson. Susie was always very busy and active, working from a very young age at all sorts jobs and retiring from the Ft. Gordon Post Exchange. After becoming legally blind, she made lap quilts and gave them to the local nursing home and DFCS. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and her flower garden. Susie also enjoyed going to TX to visit her family. Susie was also preceded in death by her two siblings, J. W. Moates and Mary Ellen Mathis. Survivors include her daughter, Margie A. Esqueda (Javier); two sisters, Betty A. Moates and Ruth L. Lovett (Thomas) both of Augusta; three grandchildren, Amy S. Esqueda-Taylor (Richard) of Austin TX, Traci E. Esqueda of Killeen TX, and Javier D. Edqueda (Melissa) of New Orleans LA; four great grandchildren, Eve, Analisa, Enrico and Ella Rose; one niece and several nephews; and two very special friends, Elsie Usry and Mildred Jordan. The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home one hour prior to services-at 10:00AM-Monday, April 11, 2012.
