GROVETOWN, Ga. - Audrey M. Jackson, 87, wife of the late James E. Jackson, entered into rest March 6, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Bellevue Memorial Gardens Chapel in Grovetown with the Rev. Eddie Bradford officiating. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. The oldest of thirteen children, Audrey was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1926. After attending the University of Chattanooga for two years, Audrey married James E. Jackson. During their marriage of nearly 50 years, they were blessed with three children, a daughter, Nona Lynn, who died at birth, and two sons. Since James was in the military, they set up housekeeping in various locations, including Germany, South Carolina, Louisiana, and finally Grovetown, Georgia where James retired and the family settled in 1962. Audrey devoted her life to being a loving wife and mother, relocating with James when she could and running the household while raising their two boys. Audrey was a long time member of Powell Baptist Church in Harlem, GA and then Lewis Memorial Methodist Church in Evans, GA. She enjoyed cooking for family gatherings, decorating her home, creating flower arrangements, and spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. Audrey is survived by her two sons, Philip James Jackson (Pamela) and Glenn Everett Jackson (Jolita); four grandchildren, Nathan Philip Jackson, Megan Elise Jackson, Shawn-Christian Everett Jackson, Evan Christopher Jackson; three brothers, Benjamin Dawn, Ted Dawn, Wayne Dawn; three sisters, Reba Hudgens, Bobbie K. Snyder, and Donna Barclay Dawn; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Lewis Memorial Methodist Church, 5555 Hereford Farm Road, Evans, GA 30809, or Powell Baptist Church, 577 Old Appling Harlem Hwy., Harlem, GA 30814.
