HARLEM, Ga. - Edward E. (Gene) Readdy, Jr. went to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, on March 4, 2014, at the age of 79. Gene was born in Augusta on May 3, 1934 to Alma O. (Chumley) and Edward E. Readdy, Sr. Gene enlisted in the Navy and served in the Korean War, earning 5 battle stars along with other medals for service. He was an electrical technology instructor at Augusta Technical College for over 30 years, retiring as head of his department. Gene was extremely active in the masonic order as a 32nd Degree mason. He served as Master of Fleming Masonic Lodge #718 and as president of several other masonic clubs. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles S. Readdy. He is survived by his longtime companion Dalthia P. Conley; son Michael A. Readdy, Sr.; daughter Regina M. Bull (Court); brother William L. Readdy (Brenda); sisters Nancy C. Loftus (Tony) and Flora J. Poore; sister-in-law Fleur Lynn Readdy; grandchildren Michael, Windy, Nicholas and Christian; and 2 great-grandchildren Scott and Nicole. A memorial service will be held at the Ascension Lutheran Church in Augusta on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 4:00 PM. Donations can be made to the Shrine Hospital in Greenville, SC.
