AUGUSTA, Ga. - SFC Luther D. Chastain entered into rest on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2014 in the Elliott Sons Funeral Home Lumpkin Rd. Chapel. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. SFC Chastain was a native of Whitter North Carolina, but has lived in Augusta for many years. He was a retired Amy Veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Fleming Masonic Lodge #718. He later in life was a Correctional officer with R.C.C.I. SFC Chastain was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Margaret G. Chastain. Survivors include his children, Andrea (John) Peacher, Suzanne (Paul) Johnson, Paul (Rita) Chastain, his sister, Betty Braswell, and 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. A special thanks to Lucas Johnson for his loving care.
