GROVETOWN, Ga. - David Wunder lost his long valiant battle with cancer on July 9, 2008. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held 3 PM Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Columbia Road Chapel with Pastor Mark Downs officiating. Pallbearers will be Frank Turner, Bill Franko, Paul Keller, Dale Hoffman, Dave Rose, Steve Franko, Randy Lambert and Mike Long. Honorary pallbearers will the A.B.A. Hall of Fame members, A.B.A. officers and directors and the Wednesday Night Men's bowling league. David is survived by his wife of 33 years, Patty; children, Christy Steffen (Wesley) and Karl Wunder (Heather); grandchildren, Lauren, Hunter and Charlie; mother, Laura Wunder;sister, Patricia Hoffman (Dale); sisters-in-law, Karen Turner (Frank), Stephanie Rose (David) and Linda Keller (Paul); brothers- in-law, Bill Franko and Steve Franko (Kim). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Trixie. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward G. Wunder. David was born in Rockville Center. NY in 1954. He moved to Rockledge, FL in 1967 then Augusta, GA in 1977. He worked in the bowling industry for Brunswick Corporation for 36 years starting as a dish washer when he was a teenager. He was Mechanical Operations Supervisor for Brunswick National Lanes in Augusta when he died. He earned the respect and appreciation of both his peers and management and received many awards over the years. He was a member of the Augusta Bowling Association and the Bowling Hall of Fame. David loved his family, garden, bowling, golf, friends and his dogs. He was an avid reader especially of Science Fiction, He was loved by his family and many friends whose lives he touched. He will be remembered for his kindness, his compassion and his guidance, especially of young people. Dad always said he knew the answer to life, the universe and everything. He now knows the question as well. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 PM on Friday evening at Elliott Sons Funeral, 4255 Columbia Road, Martinez.
