ULMER, S.C. - Effie Black Creech, 90, widow of John Corinthian Creech Sr. passed away Tuesday at the Allendale County Hospital. Miss Effie was born on January 29, 1918 in Barnwell County. She was the daughter of the late James Callie and Mary Ada Croft Black. She was a retired seamstress with K&M Manufacturing. She was a member of the Great Salkehatchie Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Friday at the Great Salkehatchie Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Orr officiating. Burial will follow in the Great Salkehatchie Cemetery, Ulmer, SC. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Thursday evening at Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell. Memorials may be made to the Great Salkehatchie Cemetery Fund, PO Box 8, Ulmer, SC 29849 or The John Edward Harter Nursing Home. PO Box 218, Fairfax, SC 29827. Survivors include sons, Bobby G. (Debra) Creech of Allendale SC, and John Corinthian (Cynthia) Creech Jr. of Columbia, SC; daughters, Mary C. (Ted) Allen, Libby (William H.) Kerr of Allendale SC, and Charlene (Bubba) West of Raleigh NC.; sister, Gussie B. Sanders of Williston, SC; half brother, James Black of Blackville, SC.; half sisters, Ruth Collins of Columbia, SC, Florence Keadle and Polly Hair of Blackville, SC; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
