Retired Nurse BLYTHE, Ga. - Mrs. Edna Hildebrant "Princess" Newsome, 84, Deans Bridge Road, entered into rest Thursday June 3, 2010, at the University Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m, Saturday June 5, 2010 at the Our Redemer Lutheran Church Augusta, Ga. Interment will be in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Gibson, Ga. at 2:30 p.m. She was born July 11, 1925 in Augusta, the daughter of the late Edna Mohrmann and Nicholas Hildebrant, she attended local schools and graduated from tubman girls school in 1942. She worked in her families grocery store, was involved with the girl scouts & the american red cross as swim instructor, as an adult she realized her dream to become a nurse she attended nursing school and graduated from barrett school of nursing in 1961. She worked at local hospitals and retired from the V.A. uptown division in 1971. she resided in blythe for 41 years. Princess is survived by her loving husband Mr. Walter Frank "Punk" Newsome. A son Larry (Marci) Newsome Sr. of Lyons, Ga. six grandchildren Paige Newsome, Joe Newsome, Rodney F. Newsome, Ryan Newsome, Randy Cook Jr., and Jaime Scarce, three great grandchildren, one sister Julia (Ed) Bohlmann of Aiken, S.C. and several nieces & nephews, a brother in Law Henry (Carlin) Scarber of Richwood, W.V. She was preceded in death by a daughter Charlene Bridges, a son Rodney Newsome Jr.; three sisters Margurite Marschalk, Louise Bartling, & Henrietta Averett. Three brothers Louis, Billy, & Henry. Pallbearers are Norm Diebold, Mac Johnson, Marvin Timm, Lee Whitlock, David Annis, Don Berminger, and Wayne Scarber, honorary pallbearers are quilters of our Redeemer Church and members of the American Legion Post # 150. The family will receive friends today from 6-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Glascock County concerned citizens in care of Mrs. Corene Cealker, 3037 bastonville, Rd.
