MARTINEZ, Ga. - Matthew Wade Hood, 36, entered into rest on Monday, November 1, 2010 at his residence. Matt graduated from Augusta State University in 2000 with a B.S. degree in Psychology, then completed his M.Ed. degree in Special Education: Emotional and Behavioral Disorders in 2007. He was a Special Education teacher at Harlem Middle School. He was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents, Chester and Viola Hood of Fort Laramie, WY; and Maternal Grandparents, James and Edith Toole of Augusta, Georgia. Matt is survived by his mother, Martha Louise Hood of Honolulu, Hawaii; father, James A. Hood of Anchorage, Alaska; sisters, Kim (Kyle) Rasmussen of Odessa, Texas and Jennifer (Jason) Dean of Honolulu, Hawaii; Partner, Dr. Mary Ann Kotras of Augusta, Georgia; Niece, Samantha Dean; and Nephew, Wyatt Dean. Memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church, 1330 Monte Sano Avenue, Augusta with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating. A special thanks to Dr. Donald Townsend and the staff at Medical Oncology Associates, Trinity Hospice, and the faculty and staff at Harlem Middle School for their care and support.
