Carol Gentry Walker, 69, a native of Greene County, died on Friday, August 5, 2011 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Born on December 6, 1941 in White Plains, GA, she was the daughter of the late George Pierce Gentry and Hollis Barnes Gentry. She graduated from Greensboro High School in the class of 1959 and married Rev. Henry Grady Walker on December 5, 1959. She worked in the church alongside her husband and was a great asset to his ministry. Carol was beloved by all the congregations she and her husband served through the years. She shared her gift of music with the children's choirs and youth groups along the way. Carol was a loving mother, a wonderful cook, and loved creating beautiful flower gardens around her home. Her yard was filled with birds, hummingbirds and other wildlife. One of her greatest joys was feeding family and friends after church every Sunday. Carol was a gracious hostess and her home was full of joy and laughter. She was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church where she played the piano as a girl and then again after moving back to Greene County in 1973. She was a member of the WMU. Carol loved playing for the residents at Willow Run Retirement Home. Whatever she did was done with all her might. Carol was loved for her sweet and giving nature and will be greatly missed.
