MILLEN, Ga. - Mr. Eddie C. Bolton, age 62, died Wednesday evening at his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. Eddie was born February 15, 1949 in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He lived in Columbus, Ga and Phoenix City, Ala. until the age of 10. He then moved with his family to Millen where he remained the rest of his life. His occupations included sewing machine mechanic at Thomson Company, Maintenance Supervisor at Metal Industries and large equipment operator with the maintenance of the Jenkins County Road Department. Eddie was a Jack-of-All trades, teaching himself many specified skills, never letting obstacles keep him from reaching his goals. He was an electrician, plumber, welder, large equipment operator, auto and equipment mechanic. Eddie farmed many years having raised hogs, cattle and 40,000 layer hens. He went about these many tasks with a glad heart, enjoying what he did. Eddie was a member of the Deep Creek Freewill Baptist Church and the Screven Masonic Lodge #248.He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Greg Bolton; his parents, Richard and Sally Joyner Bolton; a brother, Ricky Bolton. Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, Pat Turner Bolton of Millen; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Rodney Garvin of Vidalia; his two grandchildren, Lauren and Hayden Garvin of Vidalia; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Michael Bolton and Clifford and Anne Marie Duggan of Millen; a sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Ashley Brannen of Millen; his father-in-law, Albert Turner of Statesboro and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Lisa Turner. Several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins also survive. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00am at the Deep Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Butch Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until the funeral hour in the church sanctuary. In celebration of Eddies life it is requested that friends and family share memories and comments during the service. Interment will be in the Millen City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his brothers in Christ from the Deep Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
