AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Elizabeth Carter Traylor, wife of the late Earnest Traylor, departed this life Sunday, November 20, 2011. She is a former resident of Burke County and graduated from Waynesboro High and Industrial School and Savannah State College. She taught school in Burke County for many years before relocating to Baltimore, MD. There she was very active with the Order of Eastern Star and Ames UM Church. After returning to Georgia, she united with St. mark United Methodist Church of Augusta. Elizabeth was a devoted Christian who always had a beautiful smile and a kind spirit. She will be lovingly remembered by her foster daughter, Amelia Scott of Baltimore, MD; niece, Dorothy Lyas of East Point, GA; nephews, Miquel Lockhart, Augusta, Darryl & LaTroy Carter, Atlanta, and Bernard Stapleton, Inkster, MI; two very devoted nephews, Alton Howard, Jr., Augusta, and Vanderbilt (Gerri) Jones of Indianapolis, IN; devoted cousins, Olivia Wimberley, Eddie Sills, and Pearl Carter Oliphant; a close and faithful friend, Willie Mae Allen of Capital Heights, MD, and many other nieces, nephews, In-laws, cousins, and friends. Services for Elizabeth will be held on Monday, November 28, 2011, at 11 AM at St. Mark United Methodist Church (Augusta) with Reverend Nedenia Barber officiating. Interment will be at Mount Olive Memorial Gardens.
