GRANITEVILLE, S.C. - Mrs. Carolyn Hyder Lanford Steverson, 75, of Graniteville, beloved wife of thirty years to Mr. John Henry Steverson, entered into rest Thursday, January 5th, 2012, at her home with her family at her side. Born in Spartanburg, SC, she was a daughter of the late Carroll Stephen and Beatrice Williams Hyder Howard and step-daughter of the late Boyd Howard. She had been a resident of the area since 1962 and retired from Augusta State University after twenty-five years of service in the Bookkeeping/Accounting Department. Carolyn was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading but more than anything else, she enjoyed helping others. In addition to her husband and parents, family members include daughters, Rita Lanford Peterson, (the late Rick) and Renee Lanford Pattillo, both of Aiken; step-son, Larry D. Steverson, (Elaine) Hephzibah; siblings, the late Grady L. Hyder, the late Uyless C. Hyder the late Irvin B. Howard and her only living sibling, Gerald W. Howard, Spartanburg; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 7th, 2012 at 11 oclock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, with Pastor Daniel White, Dr. Roy Head and Pastor Joe Mosley officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville. Pallbearers will be Brandon Pattillo, Clayton Peterson, Jeremy Howard, Micah Mills, Danny Wood and Robert Metts. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Morning Glory Sunday School Class. The family has asked that memorials be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church, 1050 Pine Grove Rd., Beech Island SC 29842.
