AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Frank Cobb, Jr. of Tate Road entered into rest Saturday, March 10, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from Mount Olive Baptist Church, 4973 Washington Road, Evans with Reverend L. J. Tanksley officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Frank Cobb Jr. was born March 18, 1932 in Augusta, Georgia to the late Frank and Ida Dunn Crawford Cobb. Early in life he joined Mount Olive Baptist Church. He attended public schools in Augusta, Georgia and was a member of Lucy Laney's first graduating class in 1950. Frank went on to attend Bettis Academy until his enlistment into the U.S. Air Force. He retired after 20 years of service and continued a civil service career at Fort Gordon until his retirement in 1994. During this period, Frank was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee and Financial Secretary. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, John and Henry Crawford; and son, Stan Cobb. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 60 years, Queen Cobb of Augusta; son, Kenneth Cobb of Augusta; daughter, Janice Cobb-Murray and one granddaughter, Kasey Murray of Norcross, GA; mother-in-law, Carrie M. Washington of Augusta; two sisters-in-law, Leola Dunn of Las Vegas, NV and Lucy Anderson of Long Island, NY; a god daughter, Sheila Hightower-Allen and other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
