AUGUSTA, Ga. - Garry Baker entered into rest on Sunday April 8, 2012. A gathering of family and friends will be held at home of a family friend, 227 Broad Street, Augusta ,Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM Garry was born May 5th 1944 in Townsville, Queensland Australia and was a naturalized US citizen. He married his loving wife in Augusta in 1968. They had been married for 43 years. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War and worked at Banks Caf after the war and then retired from the city of Augusta after seventeen years. He was a proud father and grandfather and enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. He was an avid gardener and loved his baseball. Survivors include his wife Yvonne; brother Neil Charles Baker of Washington State; sister in-law Marian Jones Baker of Bath; brother in-law Wayne Simmons of Bath; daughter Barbara Missy Bronson and husband Scott of Nevada; son Garry Pappy Baker Jr. and fianc e Ashley Rickerson of Augusta; son Alan James Baker and fianc e Stephanie Weeks of Florida; daughter Carrie Carpenter and husband Heath of Augusta; Michael Gary Baker of Augusta and eight grandchildren: Paula, Justin, Nicole, Jessica, Alan James, Garry, Hunter and Jace.
