AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Ruby Friar Holt, 89, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Ruby Irene Harley was the precious daughter of Virgil and Eliza Harley. She was raised in Eureka, South Carolina, one of twelve children. It was in Eureka, during Elementary School, that she met the first love of her life, Gene Friar. Their marriage ended all too soon when he was killed in Korea serving in the United States Army. Years later, she found true love again and married George Holt, whom also preceded her in death. Ruby was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. She was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Holt is preceded in death by her beloved sons, Tommy and Larry Friar; and daughter-in-law, Shirley Friar. She is survived by her two sons, Ronnie and Gayle Friar and Michael Holt; one daughter-in-law, Dale Friar; two brothers, Julian Allen and Louis L. Harley; seven grandchildren, Debra Friar Smalley, Clay and Stacey Friar, Timmy Friar, Tammy Jordine, Bobby Friar, Eric Friar and Ken Barrett; and several great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Jim Johnson officiating.
