NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mrs. Lucille Lucy Zier, 92, entered into rest on Monday, June 11, 2012 at National Health Care. Her graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 11:00 am at Pineview Memorial Park with Rev. Jerry T. Matthews officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. Mrs. Zier was born September 2, 1919 in Lockport, KY. She was raised in New Albany, IN. She was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters, one brother being W.A. Jim Monihon formerly of North Augusta. Lucy & Ed moved to North Augusta in 1952 and lived there and Greenwood, SC the balance of their years. While In North Augusta, Lucy was a sales representative in the home furnishings department at J.B. White's. While in Greenwood she took up golf and became very active in the Women's Golf Association at Greenwood Country Club, serving as President for several terms. Lucy was active in the First Baptist Church, Augusta and South Main Baptist, Greenwood. At the time of her death she was a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband Edward M. Ed Zier, Jr. Survivors include her sons, Edward M. Mike Zier, III (Patricia) of Woodstock, GA and Kelly F. Zier (Bonnie) of North Augusta; 5 grandchildren, Kevin Zier, Stephanie Jackson, Jennifer Balon, Britton Zier, and Patrick Zier; and three great grandchildren, her name sake Lucy Zier, David Jackson and Hampton Balon. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of North Augusta, 625 Georgia Avenue, North Augusta, SC 29841. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of NHC North Augusta for their loving, extended care of Miss Lucy over the years.
