AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Willie Gibbs Glover of Arcadia Court, entered into rest Monday, July 9, 2012 at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from Historic Springfield Baptist Church with Reverend Hardy Bennings, III, pastor-officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park with full military honors. Mr. Glover son of the late Willie G. Glover, Sr. and Bernice Walker. He was a member of Historic Springfield Baptist Church. Mr. Glover was a retired U. S. Army veteran, where he served two tours in Vietnam and Korea. He also spoke fluent in both languages. He was the first black desk sergeant at the Augusta Police Department. He also worked for Richmond County Board of Education Police Department and the Waynesboro Police Department. Mr. Glover was a Mason with King Solomon Lodge #358. Mr. Glover was preceded in death by two brothers, Julius and Kenneth Walker. Survivors are a devoted wife of fifty years, Gladys S. Glover, Augusta, GA; children, Hiram Glover of San Antonio, Texas, Merix (Elsa) Glover of Tacoma, Washington, Leonard Glover and Sylvia Glover-Lambert, both of Augusta, GA, Donald Glover and Ronald (LaShunda) Glover, both of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Bernard (Lucille) Walker and Henry Glover, both of Charleston, SC and Leonard Walker of North Carolina; sisters, Gloria Shine, Anna Mae Washington and Alethia Smith, all of New Jersey; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
