WRENS, Ga. - Ray Edward James, 69, loving husband of Donna Onley James, entered into rest Friday morning, November 9, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, November 11, 2012 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Stan Littleton and Dr. James M. Ford officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery. One of five children born to the late Marie Rowland James and the late Raley Clarence James, Ray was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church. He was the Construction Manager at University Hospital until suffering a brain aneurysm at the age of 49 after which he was disabled and his life underwent a complete change. Ray loved the group Alabama and listened to their music incessantly; he always had his Saturday night ride listening to Classic Country Jukebox. Ray's greatest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren. Until his recent decline in health, Ray could be seen most days walking the streets of Wrens talking and waving to anyone and everyone-he loved being around people. This Wrens icon will be greatly missed. Ray was also preceded in death by all of his siblings, Roy James, Calvin James, Margaret J. McNair and Billy James. Other survivors include his three children, Deborah J. Taylor (Butch), Brian K. James (Amy) and Brad S. James (Angie); 6 grandchildren, Jenny Taylor, Dalton James, Evan James, Robbie Adams (Hannah), Georgi Ann Allen and Haley Ansley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be Pete Blount, Danny Guffey, Raymond K. James, Ricky W. James, Jim McNair, Jim Sheppard and George Raley. The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00PM this evening, Saturday, November 10, 2012. Because of the financial burden caused by such a prolonged illness/disability, the family requests memorial contributions be made to James Funeral Home, PO Box 588, Wrens GA 30833.
