NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mr. Gerald Addison Hilsman, 67, of Verdery Drive, entered into rest December 17, 2012, after a hard-fought battle with congestive heart failure. Private Family Services will be held. Friends may call on the family at The Still Residence, 301 W. Spring Grove Ave, North Augusta Wednesday afternoon from 3 until 5. Gerald was a native of Fulton County, Georgia having made North Augusta his home for the past 25 years. He graduated from Williston-Elko High School, attended Brewton-Parker Junior College, Augusta College and Minot State College, where he majored in Theology and Parks and Recreation. Gerald was a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served with The Strategic Air Command at Ft. Hood, Thule Air Force Base and Minot Air Force Base. He worked as Parks and Recreation Manager in Minot, ND and later as a Grounds Keeper at Mt. Vintage Golf Course. He was a gentle, quiet, non-judgmental man who loved music, sports, good movies, nature, horses and wildlife. Gerald loved his family and his Lord and looked forward to his Heavenly Home. His gentle smile and humor will be greatly missed. Survivors include a daughter, Tara Jacobson, North Platte, NE; two sisters, Jeanne Still, North Augusta and Joy Thomas, Aiken, SC; three grandchildren, Avah, Ross and Cail Jacobson; 5 nieces, Brea McClain Tara Cataldo, Andrea Thomas, Melodee Briggs, and Misty Kilpatrick; a nephew, Mitch Still.
