EVANS, Ga. - Entered into rest at his home surrounded by his family, Sunday, December 23, 2012, Mr. Bill Peters, 76, husband of Mrs. Maureen I. Peters. Mr. Peters was a member of Abilene Baptist Church and the Dave Hester Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Old Timers Breakfast Club at Hardees. Mr. Peters retired as a training department division chief after 34 years at Fort Gordon. Family members in addition to his wife include daughters: Chandra Pihl (Jim) of Jacksonville, FL, Becky Service (Mike) of Atlanta and Beverly Bella (Jeff) of Evans; sisters: Nell Johnson (The Late Gary Johnson) of North Augusta; and Jean Balzano (The Late Frank Balzano) of Chicago, IL and grandchildren: Manderlay Groomes, London Pihl, Mackenzie Service and McCrae Bella; former step sons: Robert and Thomas Wells of Houston, TX. Special thanks to a special family friend, retired nurse Janet Manning and Dr. Donald Townsend and the staff of University Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Abilene Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Doss officiating. Interment will follow Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be the Dave Hester Sunday School Class. Memorial contributions may be made to Abilene Baptist Church 3917 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30907.
