AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Ron A. Chapin, 79, of Augusta, GA, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Doctors Hospital. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 11am at Hillcrest Memorial Park with full military honors. Born in San Francisco, CA, he was the son of the late Floyd and Helen Vera Chapin. He was retired from the Army where he taught in the Signal Corp. He served during the Vietnam War where he was an operator of amateur radio which let the men in the services call back home to their families. After retirement, he was a truck driver for many years with Builders Transport, Thurston, and Airco. He loved to watch the Braves baseball and Falcons football on tv. Ron enjoyed working on his model trains, computer and his fish aquarium. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. He is survived by his wife Carol Weilant Chapin, son, Dexter Chapin and his wife Leslie, Virginia Beach, VA, daughter, Debbie Kaiser, Sheboygan, WI, grandchildren, Michelle and Danny. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 21, 2013 from 5-7pm at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, GA.
