HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Mr. William Stewart Billy Houston entered into rest Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olive Memorial Gardens with Reverend George T. McCord officiating. Mr. Houston was born April 20, 1948 in Augusta, Georgia to the late Deacon John Willie Houston and Cozette Philpot Houston. William was baptized by Reverend M. E. Braxton, then pastor of The Historic Springfield Baptist Church. Billy, as he was affectionately called, attended Richmond County Public Schools. He served in the United States Army, a veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the 82nd Airborne Battalion. Billy was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed fishing, gardening and swimming. Billy was preceded in death by parents; his oldest sister, Johnnie Mae Houston and grandmothers, Mrs. Sarah Stokes and Viola Moore and grandfathers. Survivors are his daughter, Mrs. Risa Houston Collier (Reese); three grandchildren; one brother, Franklin McClattie (Beulah) of Belvedere, SC; three sisters, Beverly Houston and Yvonne Houston, both of Hephzibah, GA and Elnore Houston Simpson (Harold) of Fayetteville, GA; a devoted and exceptional niece, Shanta Houston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
