HARLEM, Ga. - Funeral Services for Mr. George V. Kitchens, 83, of Radford Gay Road, who entered into rest March 28, 2013, after a long battle with Alzheimer's, will be conducted Saturday at 12 Noon from the Morningside Baptist Church. Rev. Wallace Hoyle and Rev. Jerry Pitman officiating. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Veterans Honors. Mr. Kitchens was a native of Glascock County, Georgia, a former resident of Augusta, having made Harlem his home for the past 17 years. He was a member of Silver Run Baptist Church and a former member of Morningside Baptist Church. Mr. Kitchens was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and the retired owner of Southern Business Machines. Mr. Kitchens was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Frances Pinion Kitchens and a son, Donald Ray Kitchens, Sr. Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Faye Kitchens; a son, Tony Kitchens, Augusta; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Ronnie Wood, Beech Island and Patricia Kelly, Augusta; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Kitchens, Augusta; a step- son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Debbie Radford, Harlem, GA; a step-daughter, Kathy Milton, Harlem, GA; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a brother, Lamar Kitchens, Boca Raton, FL; two sisters, Sara Shelton, Gibson, GA and Rubye Reese, Stapleton, GA. Pallbearers will be Billie Beasley, David Icenhour, Robert Thompson, Randy Radford, David Bell and James Staub. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Friday evening from 5 until 7. Memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 1825 Kissingbower Road, Augusta, GA 30904 or the Judd C. Hickey Center for Alzheimer's Care, 1901 Central Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904 or to Silver Run Baptist Church, 5408 GA Highway 221 SE, Harlem, GA, 30814.
