NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Funeral Services for Mr. Earl William Whitehead, 92, of North Augusta, SC, who entered into rest, April 6, 2013, will be conducted Monday morning at 11 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Dr. Paul W. Noe officiating. Interment in Westover Memorial Park with Veterans Honors. Mr. Whitehead was a native of Augusta having made North Augusta his home for the past 40 years. He was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church. Mr. Whitehead was a US Army Veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater where he received 4 Bronze Stars, the American Service Medal and Meritorious Unit Award. He was a retired City Fire Inspector with 24 years of service at the Augusta Fire Department and the retired owner of Whitehead Appliance Company. Mr. Whitehead was the husband of the late Sadie Dyches Whitehead. Survivors include his son, Jim Whitehead, North Augusta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and David Amos, Fayetteville, NC and Mary and Wayne Pinion, North Augusta; nine grandchildren, Chris Amos, Kevin Amos, Russell Amos, Stephanie Dabbs, Mendy Capell, Rachel Stanfield, James Whitehead, John Whitehead and Julia Stanley; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Seniuk, Augusta. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Augusta Fire Department. Pallbearers will be David Amos, Chris Amos, Wayne Pinion, James Whitehead, Jr., Robert Alston, Todd Dabbs and Zachary Dabbs. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 4 until 6. Memorials may be made to the Sweetwater Baptist Church, 198 Sweetwater Road, North Augusta, SC 29860.
