THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Ernest Hester, 83, widower of Kathleen Sturkey, died Monday, June 3, 2013, in Thomson Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, June 7, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rob Cui officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Hester was a native of Fulton County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. He was a retired siding contractor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Nollie Hester, his wife, Katie Hester, his long time friend and companion, Kathleen Morris, and his son, Ernest Wayne Hester. He is survived by his granddaughter, Tabitha Hester Salter, Cartersville; step-daughter, Nora Britton, Augusta; step- granddaughter, Sarah Britton, Augusta; two sisters, Mary Hester, Riverdale and Betty Jean Mann, McDonough; three brothers, Roy Lee (Jackie) Hester and Henry Hester, both of Riverdale, and Hubert (Betty) Hester, Fayetteville; three sisters-in-law, Agnes Brooks, Gladys Keller, and Mary (Bunyan) Langham, all of Thomson; and three brothers-in-law, Bud Sturkey, Billy Sturkey, and Buck Sturkey, all of Thomson. Pallbearers will be Floyd Brooks, Tim Bales, Adam Sturkey, Benji Sturkey, Eric Keller, and Roger Sturkey. Friends may call at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday prior to services at the funeral home.
