AUGUSTA, Ga. - Claud S. Johnson, Jr., 88, husband of 65 years to Hazel Bonnett Johnson, entered into rest Saturday, August 24, 2013 at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 1:00 PM. from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Dr. Dwayne Carter officiating, Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Johnson was born in Richmond County and was the son of the late Claud S. & Emily Johnston Johnson. He was a farmer, a veteran of World War II and attended Pine Hill Baptist Church. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Richard Allen (Ricky) Johnson and his wife Debbie of Matthews, GA, his daughters, Patricia Elaine Johnson and her husband Joey of Hephzibah, Linda J. Payne and her husband Paul of North Augusta and Angela Johnson Thompson and her husband Todd of Augusta, his sister, Sara J. Baker of Augusta, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Steve Johnson, Arthur Johnson, Pete Johnson, Erik Cunningham, Clay Thompson and Mark Phillips. Memorial contributions may be made to Pine Hill Baptist Church, 4233 Old Waynesboro Rd., Hephzibah, GA 30815. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
