WAYNESBORO, Ga. - Mr. Gary Tillman McNeely, age 69, of Waynesboro, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 26th, at 3:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Riddleville Cemetery. Reverend Larry Glover will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ken Anderson, Josh Anderson, Scotty Askew, Danny Friese, Rob McKinnie and William Josey III. Mr. McNeely was born and raised in Washington County the son of the late Sam Tillman McNeely and the late Martha Johnson McNeely. He was a longtime resident of Waynesboro where he was retired from the Burke County Road Department as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Davisboro United Methodist Church and lived for his grandchildren and fishing. Gary is predeceased by two sisters, Betty Regina Miller and Hedy Faye McNeely. Survivors are his wife, Vicki Lynn Bartlett; daughters Stephanie McNeely Friese and her husband Danny of Waynesboro and Valerie Taylor Askew and her husband Scotty of Sardis; grandchildren, Kaylee Friese, Alayna Lindsey and Dillion Askew; brothers, Vernon McNeely of Riddleville and Verlon McNeely and his wife Cecilia of Kite; and sisters, Frances Josey and her husband William of Riddleville, Brenda Hadden and her husband Fay of Louisville and Janice Thompson and her husband Claude of Riddleville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
