Willie Mixon Obituary

NEW ELLENTON, S.C. - Mr. Willie James Mixon Sr., affectionately known as "Boot" by family and friends, was born August 15, 1937 in Barnwell County to the late Lucinda Patterson and Leon Mixon. He entered into eternal rest on October 27, 2013 at Georgia Health and Science University. Willie James attended Aiken County Public Schools and at an early age he joined Union Branch Baptist Church, Williston, SC. Willie James retired after being a truck driver for over 30 years. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Ivy Mae Bing on July 18, 1957. To this union, four children were born. He was preceded in death by one sister Lillie Mae Bing and six brothers Earl Mixon, James Mixon Sr., Curtis Patterson Sr., Robert Patterson, Charlie Willie Patterson and Ben Dunbar Willie James leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife of 56 years, Ivy Mae Mixon, New Ellenton SC; three sons, Willie James (Joyce) Mixon Jr, Jersey City, New Jersey, Jeffery B (Lesley Kelly) Mixon, New Ellenton SC, Quentin (Crystal) Mixon, Aiken SC; one daughter, Elaine (Vernon) Dunbar, New Ellenton SC; two brothers Donald (Hiwaunis) Hill, Torrence Hill, both of Aiken SC; eight sisters, Bernice Durant, Rosa Mixon, Willie Mae (Earl) Valentine, Lena (Charlie) Stokes, all of New Ellenton SC, Ollie Mae (Mack) Patterson, Alma (Charles) Hankerson, Annie Pearl Patterson, all of Philadelphia PA, Latonya Odom, Denmark SC; four grandchildren, Jamar Dunbar Columbia SC, Shaniqwa Dunbar Charlotte NC, Michael Baxley Jersey City NJ, Jahkealen Walker Aiken SC; A host of nieces and nephews and many loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, November 1, 2013 at Four Mile Baptist Church, 601 Jackson Ave, New Ellenton, SC, Rev. Reginald Grimes, Pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5-7 PM. He will lie in state at the church from 10 AM Friday until hour of service.
