AIKEN, S.C. - Mr. Richard Alan "Rick" Peebles, 58, beloved husband of Gaye E. Peebles, entered into rest on Sunday, January 26th, 2014. A lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, he was a son of the late Robert Peebles and the late Pat Fulmer Thomas. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Rick dedicated his life to helping others. He was a former Paramedic with various agencies including Aiken County, Barnwell County and Aiken Rescue Inc., just to name a few. He was an avid supporter of the NRA. Rick enjoyed reading and guns, but more than anything, he enjoyed helping others. He also enjoyed airplanes. One of his last wishes was granted when he got to pilot a plane two months before his death. In addition to his wife and parents, family members include children, Elizabeth A. McManus, Snohomish, WA and Richard Alan Peebles, Salem, MA; siblings, Sandra Perrin, Goose Creek, SC and Michael Thomas, Warrenville, SC; grandson, Dylan Baker and his loyal and devoted canine companion, Jezzi. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, January 31st, 2014, at 4 o clock at Aiken State Park (Fishing Lake) with Dr. Reilly Hammond officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Paramedics Phillip Clarke, Robert Burgess, Michael Hintz and Harvey Jay. The Aiken High School NJROTC will serve as honor as well as color guard. The flag will be presented to Mrs. Peebles by Cadet/Sr. Chief Petty Officer Emerick D. Stone. It has been requested that memorials in memory of Rick be made to Aiken Rescue Inc. ( Visit to leave a message of condolence for the family. Friends will be greeted by the family on Friday from 3 o clock until the time of service at Aiken State Park.
