AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Thomas Kenneth "Rocky" Lovett, 83, husband of 56 years to Ruth Moates Lovett entered into rest Saturday, March 1, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 2:00 P.M., in the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Chaplain Tom Kallikoski and Chaplain Lieutenant Ken Lovett officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be, Jerry Lovett, Thomas M. Lovett, Tommy Lovett, Javier Esqueda, Pat Rogers and Ken McGhaee. He was born in Barber, AR on January 29, 1931 to the late Thomas and Sarah Mote Lovett and grew up in Williams, OK and moved to Augusta in 1964. He served 12 years in the US Army and served in the Korean Conflict. He worked 26 years in the Civil Service at Fort Gordon, GA before retiring. He was a member of Crestview Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald, Sherman, Gene and Alvin and his sister Rosalie and his daughter-in-law Paula McPherson Lovett. Other survivors include his sons, Jerry Lovett (Mary Kay) and Thomas Lovett; sister, Ethel Ashley; grandchildren, Karen Lipscomb (Greg), Kenneth Lovett (Sarah) and Tommy Lovett; great-grandchildren, Annabelle Lipscomb, Greyson Lipscomb, Adeline Lipscomb and Luke Lovett; niece, Margie Esqueda (Javier) and many other nieces and nephews.
