MARTINEZ, Ga. - Reverend Grover Cleveland Lee Jr. beloved pastor, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather went home to heaven on Sunday, March 23rd, 2014. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 am at Martinez Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Winsett and Rev. Don Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Rev. Lee s body will lie in state at the church 1 hour prior to service. Pallbearers will be deacons of Martinez Baptist Church. Brother Lee was born August 2nd, 1925 in Douglas, GA. He was the youngest of Grover C. Lee Sr. and Sara Ann Grantham Lee. He is preceded in passing by his brother Robert E. Lee, his sisters Agnes Lee Ash and Ruth Lee Merritt; still with us is his sister Dorothy Lee Vaughan. He leaves behind, for now, his wife of 65 years, Ilee Jones Lee, his children Larry G. Lee, Sandra J. Lee, Gary C. Lee; his daughters-in-love, Barbara H. Lee and Angela M. Lee; his grandchildren, Nathan (Elizabeth) Lee, Adam (Libby) Lee, Ashleigh Walters, Sarah Lee, Christopher Lee, Carolyn Lee; his great grandchildren Harrison Lee, Julia Kate Lee, Annie Lee, Anderson Lee, Abby Lee, Audrey Walters; wonderful sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention. Grover served in the U.S. Navy during WW II as a Pharmacist Mate 1st class, looking after the medical needs of the men. He graduated from Pharmacy School at the University of South Carolina, in 1950. He was ordained to preach the Gospel in 1957. He graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky with a Master of Divinity, in 1961. He served as pastor at Smithville Baptist Church, Smithville, GA, Pine View Baptist, Martinez GA, and finally at Martinez Baptist Church, where he retired in 1992. He continued to work as a fill-in, part-time pharmacist until he was in his 80 s. Grover Lee was a kind, generous, fun loving man, who genuinely cared for others. A man with a winning smile, witty sayings, a joy for playing the harmonica, a wonderfully beautiful handwriting, and children seemed to be naturally drawn to him. He loved his LORD, his wife and family, and the many people he served both spiritually and medically. Thanks, Dad. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Martinez Baptist Church, 3632 Lynnwood Dr., Martinez, Ga. 30907. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm. Please visit and sign the family s personal guestbook.
