Donald "Donnie" Eugene Taylor, 66, loving son of Thelma Perdue Winkle and the late William Eugene "Gene" Taylor and loving father of Rebecca, Tony, and Melissa Taylor entered into rest on Friday, July 7, 2017 at University Hospital. Celebration of Life Services will be held Friday, July 21, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of The Poteet Funeral Home with Pastor Wesley Weatherford officiating.
Donnie was a graduate from Butler High School "Class of 1970". He worked as a painter at Commercial Military System and Southeast Equipment Company for many years. He loved to attend racing at Gordon Park Speedway and watch NASCAR on Sundays and was a devoted Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan. His famous quotation was "I did it my way".
Additional survivors include his sisters. Lois "Betty" Lonergan (George) of Wrens; Lynn Prescott (Pinchy) of Matthews; his three grandchildren, Anthony Paul Taylor, Jr (T.J.); Haley Taylor; and Delonie Gilstrap; and Faye Taylor of Hephzibah, "The best ex-wife ever".
The family will receive friends on Friday July 21, 2017 from 12 noon until the hour of service at The Poteet Funeral Home.
