Thomas Allgood Obituary
Tom was born in Augusta in 1952 to Thomas Forrest Allgood, Sr. and Edrie Lyle Ballard. He was a graduate of Evans High School, the University of South Carolina and proudly held a Juris Doctorate Degree from the Emory University School of Law.
Upon graduation from Emory, Tom began his legal career with Allgood and Childs, a firm started in 1954 by his father and T. Allen Childs. In 1989, he and Rip Mehrhof formed Allgood and Mehrhof, P.C., a boutique firm specializing in civil and domestic litigation. With participation in over 150 jury trials across Georgia and South Carolina, Tom's peers soon recognized him as a "Super Lawyer" in Family Law. He served as Chairperson for the Family Law Section of the Augusta Bar Association as well as the Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the State Bar of Georgia's Family Law Section.
Tom is survived by his loving and cherished wife: Bonnie; five children: Anna (Jevin) Williams, Thomas F. Allgood, III, Courtney (Jose) Moncivais, Wesley Vaiden and Amanda ( Sam) Cooper; seven grandchildren: Gavin, Cooper, Charlotte, Avery, Olivia, Cannon and Chance; three brothers, Lyn (Terri) Allgood, Brian (Melanie) Allgood and Michael (Cathy) Allgood; and multiple nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
