Dennis C. Lowney Obituary
Lowney, Dennis C. 71, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014. He was born November 8, 1942 in Aurora. Denny was a member of Holy Angels Church. He graduated from East Aurora High School in 1961. He was united in marriage to Susan (Gengler) on July 16, 1966. He was a veteran of The United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. Denny was a life member of the VFW in Montgomery, the Sheet Metal Union Local#265 and a partner at Gengler-Lowney Laser Works in Aurora. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and bowler, having been honored in the Bowling Hall of Fame. Denny was extremely proud of his Irish heritage and always enjoyed life to the fullest. He deeply loved his family and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Susan Lowney; his two children, Beth (Tim) Wilson of Sugar Grove, IL and Mark (Evelyn) Lowney of Aurora; two grandchildren, Maddie and Drew Wilson of Sugar Grove; his brother-in-law, Jack Gengler of Aurora; his nephew, Pat (Kathy) Gengler of Aurora; his niece, Lorie (Mike) Garrone of Plainfield, IL; and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Dorothy (Cotter) Lowney; and his sister-in-law, Judy Gengler. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 5, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to Holy Angels Church at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Michael Lavan will officiate with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 3, 2014 at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 9:30 a.m. at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY. A liturgical wake service will be offered on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the selfless gift of Tom Smith for donating his kidney to Denny in 2006. Because of this generous act, we were all blessed with eight more years of Denny's shenanigans.
