Ernest William Anderson Obituary
Anderson, Ernest William Age 91, of Oswego, IL, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Rush-Copley Hospital in Aurora. He was born March 2, 1923, in North Platte, Nebraska, the son of Claus and Nellie (Thelander) Anderson. Ernest graduated from Polytechnic High School in Long Beach, CA. He proudly served in the 82nd Airborne during World War II. He was employed as a switchman with the Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement in 1983. Ernest was united in marriage to Beulah Sykes on April 30, 1955, and they spent the next 59 happy years together. He is survived by his wife, Beulah, of Oswego; children, Pamela (John Clark) Anderson of San Diego, CA, LeAnne (Norm) Herrington of Yorkville, IL, and Jeffrey (Mary) Anderson of Yorkville, IL; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter due in July; two sisters, Verna Robertson, of Fresno, California, and Bernice Anderson of Fountain Valley, CA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul, Melvin, and Milton; and sisters, Leona (in infancy), Alice, Margaret, Gladys and Grace; and his son, Dennis. He was a member of Park Place Baptist Church, where he volunteered tirelessly, even refusing the pay that was offered. In 2011 he was able to participate in The Honor Flight to Washington, DC. Family will be receiving guests on Wednesday, May 14th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave., Montgomery, IL 60538. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 15th at 10:00 a.m. at Dieterle Memorial Home, with Pastor Denny Carr officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park, Aurora, IL. Memorial donations may be made to Park Place Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Autumn Leaves of Oswego, who were like family to him, and Hillside Care Center of Yorkville for their care and compassion.
