Jesse Hopson Obituary
Hopson, Jesse Went home to be with the Lord on the morning of February 17, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in LaGrange, Texas April 17, 1922 to James and Birdie (nee Strambler) Hopson. He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age where he joined and was united with Bethel Union Baptist Church. Later he became a devoted member of Main Baptist Church in Aurora, IL. He attended school in the Center Union Community and went to Giddings High School. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII and was also a member of the US Merchant Marines. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company with 20 years of service. He was active in his community as a member of the Neighborhood Watch Program TBOC. He was a caring loving individual who was always willing to help others and was respected by everyone who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Lucille (nee Taylor); sister, Ruby Thurman; brothers, AB "Bud" Hopson and Vernon Hopson. He is survived by his sons, Craig Hopson of Glendale Heights IL, Anthony Hopson of Aurora IL, Donnie Williams of Los Angeles CA; his grandchildren, Heather, Sue, Jessica, Raquel and Damarra; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday February 21, at James Funeral Home, 204 Hill Ave. Aurora, IL. On Friday February 22nd Visitation will be from l0-11am at Main Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11am at Main Baptist Church, 814 East Galena Blvd. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montgomery IL. Contributions in Jesse's memory may be made to the .
