Henning, Laurence "Bud" Age 88 of Rio Verde, AZ, formerly of Yorkville, IL passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Silverado Senior Living Center in Scottsdale, AZ. He was born on July 19, 1924, in Aurora, IL the son of Laurence A. and Doris (Johnson) Henning. Bud was united in marriage on May 6, 2003 to Bryn Sorenson Collman. They spent many years together in Yorkville, and 11 years in the Phoenix area. Mr. Henning served his country proudly during World War II with the United States Army Air Corps, where he received several commendations, including the Distinguished Flying Cross. Bud lived in the Yorkville area most of his life. He was a graduate of Sugar Grove High School, North Central College (BS) and the University of Michigan (MS). He continued his education in Finance and Banking at Harvard. Bud taught at Yorkville High School for two years, then left to join the Yorkville National Bank in 1951 where he remained for 35 years, serving as President for nearly three decades. He loved the town of Yorkville and was often instrumental in helping many businesses and farmers in the region. Bud served on the board of directors for several companies where his sage advice was sought and appreciated. Bud was an avid golfer, making four holes-in-one in his lifetime, and a member of Aurora Country Club. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, step-father, step-grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. Bud is survived by his wife, Bryn Henning of Rio Verde, AZ; his children, James L. Henning of Kingwood, TX and Nancy (Ty) Bowles of Dallas, TX; his grandson, Marty Dunning of Kingwood, TX; his step-children, Kristin (Joseph) Brankin of Montgomery, IL, Angela (Greg) Wilks of Aurora, IL and Anthony Collman of Joliet, IL; his step-grandchildren, Tiffany Peterson, Lt. Megan Plunkett of the United States National Guard, Katherine Brankin, Daniel Brankin of the Army ROTC, Spencer and Hayden Wilks, Tonia Mapes; five great-grandchildren; his former wife, Mary Henning of Dowling Park, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence and Doris Henning; and his brothers, Denslow "Denny" and David Henning. Toward the end, Bud battled Alzheimer's Disease at home for five years, then in assisted living for four years. The family is grateful to the staffs of Barton House in Paradise Valley, AZ, Silverado Assisted Living in Scottsdale, AZ, and Hospice of the Valley, for their loving care during his illness. Special thank you to Denise, from HOV, and Vicki, from VerdeCares, who both guided and supported us on this difficult but loving journey. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 East Countryside Parkway in Yorkville, IL with Pastor Kent Svendsen officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Bristol, IL. Friends may visit to share their memories of Bud from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
