Baker, Roger X. 74, of Aurora passed Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. Roger was born January 5, 1939 in Jennings, MO., to Joseph W. & Neva Jean (Heatherington). He honorably served his country in the US Navy from 1956 1961. He married Sharon A. Gorman March 31, 1961 in Norfolk, VA. He retired in 1995 as a self- employed salesman for type & printing. He had served as Chairman of the Board of the Have a Heart Foundation. He was a life member and Past Commander of the Hampshire VFW and the American Legion of Hampshire, a member of the South Elgin VFW, the Loyal Order of Moose and the Moose Legion of Batavia. He was past President and member of the Lions Club in Hampshire. He had served as a Selective Service officer for the Northern IL. District for 22 years. He had also served on the Northwest Airport Authority for Kane Co. for 4 years. He was a volunteer with Gift of Hope and worked with the IL. Secretary of State promoting organ donor programs. He was an avid fly fisherman and a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Baker of Aurora; his three sons, William (Gaylene) Baker of North Aurora, Christopher (Carol) Baker of Orland Park, Eric Baker of Aurora; five grandchildren, Viatra Baker, Delanna Baker, Zachary Baker, Zoe Baker, Shawn Baker; two sisters, Beverly Johnson of Ann Arbor, MI., Linda (Rob) Russo of St. Louis, MO.: three brothers, Thomas (Pamela) Baker of St. Peters, MO., Bruce (Catherine) Boehmer of San Antonio, TX. And Randy (Lrita) Boehmer of Troy, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Gerald Baker. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 28th at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 S. Main St., Batavia, IL., 60510. A gathering of family & friends will be held from 9:00a.m.1:00 p.m. Saturday, January, 26th at the Dunn Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 1801 S. Douglas Rd., Oswego, 60543. For information phone 630-554-3888. Interment of cremains will be at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Memorials may be directed to the Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, Cardiology Research Fund.
