Warren "Red" Dixon Sr. Obituary
Dixon Sr., Warren Leroy "Red" 97, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Alden of Waterford. He was born June 22, 1916 in Chicago, IL. Red was a 70 year member of Annunciation Church. He was a Third degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Montgomery VFW post 7452 and the American Legion Post 84. He was honored to be the Grand Marshal of the 2012 Aurora Fourth of July Parade. He was employed by Com Ed and later he was the owner operator of Dixon Realty. He was the past president of the Aurora Real Estate Board. He was a youth football coach for thirty five years, fourteen of them in Naperville. Survivors include his two children, Maryagnes Dixon, Warren (Katie) Dixon, Jr.; five grandchildren, Dennis (Jeanne) Foote, Steven (Laura) Foote, Warren (Nicole) Dixon III, Tracy (Erik) Richards, Brian Dixon; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob Foote, Justin Dixon, Abbey Foote, Jordan Foote, Natalie Richards, Dylan Richards, Logan Dixon; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy (Victoria) Dixon; his parents, Lester and Minnie (Witten) Dixon, Sr.; five sisters, Margaret Bower, Marian Bowers, Gwendolyn Wagener, Shirley Dixon, Della McCormick; two brothers, Lester Dixon, Jr., and Herbert Dixon. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 9, 2013 at 9:30 AM from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to Annunciation Church; Fr. Joel Rippinger, O.S.B. will officiate with interment at Marywood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora. 630-631-5500.
