Welby F. "Duke" Parker Obituary
Parker, Welby F. "Duke" 88, of Aurora passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014. He was born on November 22, 1925 in Johnson City, IL, the son of John and Ella Mae (Goins) Parker. He proudly served his country with the US Navy during WWII. For 31 years he served as a volunteer fireman and Assistant Chief of the South Park Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Kane County Fire Chief's Association. Duke will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret "Jean"; daughter, Connie (Sotiris) Nacopoulos; grandchildren, Danielle (Jeremy) Abel, Dimitris Nacopoulos, and Marinella (Jimmy) Ellis; and his great-grandchildren, Rhyan Abel and Hudson Parker Ellis. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Welby "Bo" Parker; and grandson, Ryan Welby Parker. Family will be receiving guests on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave., Montgomery, IL 60538. Graveside service will be on Friday; February 7, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Aurora Township Fire Protection District (formerly South Park Fire Dept) 599 Montgomery Rd. Montgomery, IL 60538.
