1924 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Smead, Judith Pittenger Passed away on Friday, June 6th at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, IL. She was born August 5, 1924 in Muncie, IN to James Orion Pittenger and Naomi Woods Pittenger. She graduated from Ball State Teachers College and taught art in Geneva and St. Charles, IL. She was pre-deceased by her parents; husband of 50 years, Robert Griffith Smead; son, Rupert Charles Smead; brother, James Hillary Pittenger; sister, Ellen Pittenger Gladeck; and brothers-in-law, Joseph Gladeck and Charles Smead. She is survived by her children, Betsy Smead (Tim) Wycislak and Jamie Smead; grandchildren, Sally (Espen) Bommen Joshua (Dana) Wycislak, David Wycislak, and Carrie Anne Wycislak; great-grandchildren, Cole Wycislak, Slater Wycislak, and Sofie Bommen. She is also survived by her best friend and sister-in-law, Phyllis Harum Smead; nieces, Martha Smead (Jim) Bull and Ellen Gladeck (Mark) Waronker; nephews, John Smead, Joe Gladeck, and Christopher Gladeck; great-nieces, Caitlin Bull and Samantha Waronker; and great-nephew, Matthew Waronker. At her request, cremation will be followed by interment at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with her late husband. Arrangements have been made by Cremation Society of Illinois.
