Robert "Eddie" Beetham Obituary
Beetham, Robert J. "Eddie" A longtime resident of Sugar Grove and most recently Sandwich, died on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the age of 69. Bob led a very active lifestyle up until May when he was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Never one to complain, he maintained his positive attitude, inspiring us to the end. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. Robert was born on July 18, 1945 in Kilmarnock, Scotland. His parents moved to the U.S. when he was 9 months old. His family eventually settled in Aurora and Bob graduated from East Aurora High School in 1963. He then served in the Army and did 2 tours in Vietnam. Bob was a well respected union mason. He was an avid Chicago sports fan, had a pure love for golf, and enjoyed spending a month each winter in Gulf Shores, AL golfing with friends. Bob was also a proud and active member of the Sugar Grove American Legion. Beetham is survived by his 2 grown children, Kim (Corey) Maxwell of Snoqualmie, WA and Jeff (Stephanie) of Sugar Grove, IL; 4 grandchildren, Erin, Cate, Ryan, and Emme; sister, Mary (Mike) Aslaksen of Bel Air, MD; and brother, James (Sharon) Beetham of Aurora, IL; 3 nephews, Mike, Brad, and Brett; and 2 nieces, Tara and Hilary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. Beetham and Ann Wallace Beetham. A visitation (1:00-3:00 p.m.) and Memorial Service (3:00 p.m.) will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Drive, Sugar Grove. Following the Memorial Service family and friends are invited to the Sugar Grove Legion (65 First Street) to celebrate "Eddie's" life. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Association would be greatly appreciated, www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org. For information 630-466-1330 or www.healychapel.com.
