Edward Maney Obituary

Maney, Edward John "Jack"
Edward John (Jack) Maney of Fountain Hills was born on a cold Wednesday, January 11, 1928, in Hibbing, MN and passed away peacefully on a very warm Sunday, July 31, 2016 in Scottsdale, AZ. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary; his 5 sons, John (Deborah), Michael (Rebecca), James (Diane), Edward and Patrick (Sarah); his 5 grandchildren, Jack, Aidan, Wyatt, Sophia and Catalina. After serving in the U.S. Navy in WWII and later graduating from Michigan Tech, he began his 38 year career as a mining engineer and executive. As fate would have it, Jack was transferred to a brand new Nickel mining and smelting operation in the very small town of Riddle, OR in 1954. Here, Jack would settle with his future wife and raise his family in, what arguably would be his most happy and satisfying years. Other stops along his journey included the Taconite operations in Hibbing, the Nickel operation in Montelibano, Colombia, Borate operations near Las Vegas, and the Copper deposit near Phoenix, where Jack and Mary would finally settle. In the early 1990's, they built their dream house in Fountain Hills where they entertained many family members and friends. In retirement, Jack and Mary travelled to some exotic locales and spent quality time with their family and friends. At the time of his passing, his first nephew noted - "That's the way to go, I think, but then again, he did most things the right way." He was a great man and will be missed dearly. A funeral mass will be held at the Church of the Ascension in Fountain Hills, Sept. 2 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to your favorite charity in Jack's name.
